Teaching

Ann Evans is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she teaches voice. The pillars of her teaching are:

§  Compassionate, collaborative engagement

§  Celebrating individual & cultural differences

§  Exploration of the vocal instrument as an extension of the artist and human

§  Personalized technical and somatic instruction that creates life-long learners that are self-sufficient.

She believes that individuality makes the artist and that can be seen in her many students who have graced Broadway, Hollywood and stages across the world. In her own words, “I strive to foster centered, unique artists who understand how their voice works, and are able to use that voice in creating a more diverse, inclusive, thought-provoking art form by fearlessly sharing the unique nuances & crevasses of who they are. I work to provide a more holistic & representative musical theatre art form that inspires and activates audiences.  I hold myself accountable to these intentions while leaving space for my own growth & development as a human, an educator, a facilitator, and an artist.”
